We do not charge a separate registration fee like other long distance tour operators, rather a deposit that is applied to the tour price itself.

Rider Reference List

At CrossRoads, we encourage prospective guests to talk to alumni that have toured with us in the recent past. We offer an extensive list of alumni that will field questions about our tour routine, support and their overall experience. Please contact us for a list of CrossRoads' alumni in your area.

Accommodations

CrossRoads uses only larger, well known hotels recognized for their quality, cleanliness and service. Please call for a list of hotels - we guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised!

Standard accommodations for all tours is double occupancy. Private room upgrades are available for an additional fee.

CrossRoads will make every effort to arrange requested accommodations for your entire tour. However, in the very unlikely event that a roommate is not available for all or part of your tour, an additional fee may apply.

Menus for all meals have been developed specifically for long distance cyclists and their unique nutritional needs.

Pre-Trip Support

Our commitment to our riders begins months before the start of each tour with leaders sharing their knowledge and know-how via private web sites, News Flashes and telephone calls. Our riders are introduced to each other via email before tour begins so questions can be asked and excitement shared.

Pre-Departure Guide

Upon receipt of your deposit, a Pre-Departure Guide will be mailed containing arrival and departure information, a detailed itinerary, route map and packing list, as well as Tips and Tricks For Long Distance Cycling, a training schedule and an outline of the daily tour routine.

Tour Handbook

Before the start of your ride, a Tour Handbook will be sent containing rider and hotel address lists, bike packing and shipping information, bicycle safety tips, a sample route sheet, and a Registration Day schedule.

Safety Flags

Safety is our primary concern - above all else! We believe flags make our riders more visible to passing motorists, and although not mandatory, we highly recommend and encourage their use during tour.

SAG Support

Each day you will find up to three scheduled SAG stops with fresh fruit, nutritional snacks, and energy bars, gels and drinks.

Vehicle Support

Support vehicles will sweep the route during the riding day and stay on the road until all riders are within a few miles of the hotel.

Riders may ride in the support vehicles at anytime during the riding day. Whether tired, injured or ill, you may spend the entire day in a vehicle or just a portion of the day choosing the best section to pedal.

Mechanic Support

At no additional cost to you, our skilled mechanics will be available on the road and at each hotel to service your bike. You will, however, be responsible for purchasing replacement parts if needed.

Energy Food and Drinks

At each SAG Stop you will find an assortment of name brand energy bars, gels and drinks available free of charge.

Route Sheets

At the start of your tour you will be given route sheets for the entire tour so visits from family and friends can be planned, and future routes can be reviewed.

Elevation Profiles and Maps

Computer generated elevation profiles and route maps will be available for each riding day. Elevation profiles will indicate total elevation gain and location of climbs relative to each day’s route.

Route Rap

Every night before dinner your tour leaders will discuss the next day’s ride including road conditions, planned stops, special events and points of interest.

Orientation Meeting

At the beginning of tour, an orientation meeting will be held to present information regarding tour activities and safety procedures.

Final Banquet

At the conclusion of your tour we will celebrate with an awards banquet commemorating your achievement. Friends and family members are encouraged to attend and share in your victory.

Upon registering for tour and at your request, a Fund Raising Guide will be sent containing information on preparation, execution and follow-up.

All cyclists must wear a Snell or ANSI approved helmet when riding with CrossRoads.

Mature Riders

Our long distance tours are designed not to exclude anyone because of an “older” age or ability. We have seen many people in their fifties, sixties and seventies successfully participate in the full Cross Country Tour with as much fun and enthusiasm as riders half their age. We encourage everyone to ride at their own pace, finishing each day as early as possible or traveling at a more leisurely pace with frequent stops for sightseeing. At CrossRoads, the days are yours to enjoy at your own pace.
